Available in the choice of the small and compact IPF 985 H9 Halogen or the Xenon spot lights, which makes this lamp pod an ideal setup for smaller cars with little bonnet space, but also for competitors looking for a very lightweight and more aerodynamic pod setup. The H9 Halogen pod comes with a pair of spots and drives, and weighes just 3kg and in the Xenon option is just 4.5kg.
The IPF H9 technology has been developed specifically for motorsport due to its low wattage consumption at only 65W. The H9 has an amazing brightness and offers the best compromise between the classic H3 and H4 halogen and the latest Xenon technology but at a much more affordable price. Xenon technology (otherwise known as H.I.D or High Intensity Discharge) is the ultimate lighting technology available for motorsport. Xenon is the rarest gas on earth and with a very high electrity discharge of between 20 to 25,000 volts it makes an powerful electrical Xenon arc, but with a very low 35w consumption which is 45% less than the H9 Halogen bulb.
IPF manufacture various options of Xenon bulbs, these are 4300K, 6000K and 6850K, (K is for Kelvin which is the measure of the colour temperature of light). After exhaustive testing in labs and in competition IPF have found that the optimum level for motorsport is 4300K as this offers the most white light and offers far better definition of the surface and character of the road at night.
The 985 comes in various option of lens, a drive or spot and come with an adjustable mounting plate. The lens of the 985 is made of a shatterproof plastic. The H9 version weighes in at an incredible 560 grammes and the Xenon version at 800 grammes which includes the Ballast kit.
The H9 Lamps can be upgraded at a later date with our cost effective Xenon kits as and when your budget permits. Full lamp pod kits for 985 are also available.
