Stilo products have always been at the fore front of safety and technology and in their new addition to their helmet range the ST4 8860 F1 Formula is no exception.
The FIA 8860-2004 standard is required for various championships in 2010. WTCC, FIA GT, GP1, GP2 and GP3 and British F3 all require competitors to have a helmet compatible to this standard.
The helmet with its built in visor ventilation system keeps visors clear and with its top air scoop helps keep the user cool during a race. The helmet has a built in comm port and microphone and comes with a connection for Stilo's ear plug kit (available as an extra as well a conversion cables for other makes of ear plugs). The helmet was homologated with Stilo's soft and flexible padded earmuffs which cuts down the excessive noise of a race car allowing clearer pit crew communications. We also have conversion cables to allow connection to an MRTC radio system,
The helmet is available with HANS posts or Stilo's own HANS connection option of SEA system which saves 70 grammes in weight in comparison to the metalic HANS post.
The helmet has the option of a quick release drinking system (available as an extra) and a fresh air system (also available as an extra). Please note that only one of these options can be fitted at the same time as they use the same connection point at the side of the helmet.
Used in a Red Bull F1 test by Sebastien Loeb the helmet gave a faultess performance with great stability even at a top speed of 319kph. And has been proven in high speed competition by Andy Soucek who won the 2009 GP2 championship.

FIA 8860-2004 Homologation

The ST Quattro 8860 helmet is packed with technology all incorporated to give far better protection to the user. The helmet absorbs 50% more impact energy and has improved load spreading during side impact accidents. It also resists 30% more penetration energy and in turn 30% more protection against injurys caused by excessive rotational accelerations, making the FIA 8860-2004 standard the toughest and highest on the market.
Built for the ultimate demands of F1 this helmet is homologated to the FIA standard 8860-2004, it is exceptionally strong and light and one of very few helmets available commercially to this very high safety standard. The small shell weighes 1.50kg and the large shell at 1.58kg. |
