Stilo products have always been at the forefront of safety and technology and in their new addition to their helmet range the ST4 8860 GT is no exception.
The ST4 8860 GT Wide helmet was originally designed from requests from the US Nascar series but has definate benefits for all who use it. It has a wider opening on the front giving improved peripheral vision. Another advantage with the GT wide is the ability to change from the standard carbon peak to a full visor (extras required) to make it a formula helmet.
The 8860-2004 homologated helmet is packed with technology all incorporated to give far better protection to the user. The helmet absorbs 50% more impact energy and has improved load spreading during side impact accidents. It also resists 30% more penetration energy and in turn 30% more protection against injurys caused by excessive rotational accelerations, making the 8860-2004 standard the toughest and highest on the market.
Manufactured in the ultimate demands required in F1, this GT racing helmet is homologated to the highest FIA standard 8860-2004, it is exceptionally strong and light and one of very few helmets available commercially to this very high safety standard. The small shell weighes 1.50kg and the large shell at 1.58kg.
The FIA 8860 standard is required for various championships in 2011. WRC, WTCC, GP1, GP2, GP3 as well as European and British F3 championship all require competitors to have a helmet compatible to this standard.
The helmet comes with a built in comm port and microphone and comes with a connection for Stilo's ear plug kit (available as an extra as well as a conversion plug for other brands of ear plugs).
The helmet was homologated with Stilo's soft and flexible padded earmuffs which cuts down the excessive noise of a race car allowing clearer pit crew communications in racing, and clear intercom communications in the rally version.
The ST4 8860 GT Wide comes as standard with HANS post anchors for connection to a HANS device. A conversion cable is available as an extra for easy connection to an MRTC/Autotel radio system. The helmet also has the option of a quick release drinking system (available as an extra) and top fresh air system (also available as an extra). The top air system can only be used with the visor fitted.
