Stilo Trophy DES Range

The Trophy DES is the entry-level model and doesn’t feature a fixed boom like the WRC. The shell of the Trophy helmet is made from multi sandwich composite fibres and is reinforced with Kevlar, but unlike the WRC it is not available (as standard) in a carbon construction - a Trophy DES Carbon is a special order. There are three Trophy DES models:

STILO TROPHY DES JET

The JET model is the only open face helmet that does not come with fitted electronics as standard, although the electronics can be added at a later date. The most cost-effective helmet in the range, the configuration is designed for the types of motorsport that don’t require co-driver communication like racing, track days, hill climbs and auto testing.

The JET has all the fittings built in for the optional HANS posts, these can also be fitted at a later date if required or purchased and built in from new.

STILO TROPHY DES RALLY

The TROPHY DES RALLY is the same construction as a JET, but has an intercom system fitted. This helmet is a true clubman edition offering Stilo’s high safety standards while remaining sensitive to the costs of modern motorsport.

It’s worth noting that the Trophy intercom in the DES RALLY helmet is the clubman specific electronics, and designed for more standard models with low noise levels, and can ONLY be used with a Trophy Des intercom. So you will need to bear in mind that the fitted connections are not compatible with the DG or WRC intercoms range. If needed the WRC electronics can be added at a later stage

STILO TROPHY DES PLUS

The TROPHY PLUS is effectively a WRC helmet with the boom cut off. So you have the same high-quality communications but fitted in a helmet that doesn’t have the fixed boom. While a cheaper helmet than the WRC, it’s preferred by some drivers who favour a true open face helmet.

The Plus model is fitted with the WRC electronics and is designed for use with the DG and WRC range of intercoms for the very best in noise cancelling and voice clarity. The adjustable peak that can be fitted with an optional short visor, and HANS posts are fitted as standard, and the inner pads are adjustable to ensure the perfect fit.

Stilo WRC DES Rally

The Stilo WRC DES helmet is a multiple World Rally Championship winning helmet and is the number 1 choice of rally drivers from all over the World - although when almost every driver chooses Stilo it’d be hard not to rack up multiple wins. The helmet was designed around the intercom, with the iconic fixed boom firmly holding the microphone in position, and the ear cup speakers for exceptional noise cancelling.

HANS posts are standard on all WRC models and they can be fitted with an optional short visor. The cheek and top pads are removable and can be replaced to fit the helmet perfectly to the shape of your head. There are four different WRC models, each defined by their shell composition and safety standard:

Extra Information

Helmet Fitting

A well-fitted helmet is important for both safety and comfort, but above all else, a poorly fitting helmet will offer less protection in the event of an accident. While accidents and safety is not something you necessarily think about when buying a helmet, it is only when you have that accident that you are glad you have a correctly fitted helmet. Although people consider comfort as being more important when determining the correct size, cheek pads, top pads and inner padding all have an effect on fitment, changing one part to benefit the comfort can compromise your safety, which is why we offer a bespoke fitting to make sure that the helmet fits correctly all around your head - giving you both comfort and safety.

At Nicky Grist Motorsports we have a range of interior replacement pads that fine-tune the fit of a helmet, so we always recommend visiting us at our HQ and having a free helmet fitting before your purchase. If that’s not an option, please feel free to get in touch and we’ll do our best to advise. But the bottom line is no matter your head shape or size, we can make a helmet fit.

Fine Tuning Your Helmet

Included in your helmet box you’ll find some foam spacers (does not include DES JET & DES RALLY). These are for spacing two crucial parts of the helmet - especially in a rally helmet: the ear cups and the microphone.

Ear Cups- this will be a pretty obvious thing to work out. If you feel they are pressing too hard on the area around your ears or they don't pressure in a firm enough manner you can add or remove the foam pads accordingly.

Microphone - it is possible to have the microphone too far away from your lips. The ideal position is that your puckered lips should just about touch the foam of the microphone.  These can be adjusted in both the WRC and ST5 models.

Cautions

When handling your WRC helmet try and avoid holding it by the boom arm, and definitely not on the end with the microphone sponge. This isn’t because the boom can’t handle the load, but you need to be careful not press the front microphone foil inwards. Doing so can damage the diaphragm and stop it from working and will only be repairable by Stilo.

Accessories/Extras

As with all Stilo helmets, the Trophy, WRC and ST5 R have a range of accessories to enhance their performance.

Short Visors - For the Trophy and WRC Helmets you can fit an additional short visor that will aid vision in various conditions. Colours available: Mirror Dark, Iridium Blue Dark, Iridium Red, Dark tint and Orange for bad light situations.

Helmet Hans BagA Stilo helmet and HANS Bag is available for all helmets.

Spare and replacement electronicsIt’s rare that you’ll have a fault, but it’s always a good idea to have a spare set of electronics available just in case. Spare intercom kits available for all rally helmets as well as emergency wiring kits.

Conversion cables - Connect your Stilo helmet to other non Stilo branded intercoms, non Stilo helmets to Stilo intercoms, or your Stilo helmet to other race radio kits. A full range of these are available for race and rally.

ST5 Drinks System - The ST5 R helmet is compatible with Stilo’s in-helmet drinks system. This kit consists of a super durable Camelbak bladder that connects to your helmet via a quick release fastening. Inside the helmet there is a drip-proof mouthpiece you can cut to the length required, thus enabling you to be able to drink when in the car.
