Stilo Rally Intercoms - Information and Buying Guide
Stilo Rally Intercoms are a market leader when it comes to the best electronics for noise cancelling, in what is the most hostile environment - a rally car.
Stilo have for many years been the one must-have item in rallying, and the greater majority of cars will be using Stilo helmets and intercoms. The World Rally Championship is testimony to this as all the professional crews use Stilo.
What makes Stilo so good? The original brainchild of Stilo came from an ex Italian Rally Champion - Ludvico Fassiteli, he was fed up with the poor communications available with the intercoms at that time, and he dedicated himself to manufacture the best electronics and noise cancelling in the rally business. This he certainly managed, and for the first few years of the company’s inception the helmets and intercoms took over the rally world.
As time moved on, cars become even louder, with the inception of high revving and very noisy transmission cars in Super 1600 and Super 2000 categories, this meant that new products were required and further development was needed to find products that could cope with the massively increased noise levels.
Sometime later, a new range of Active Digital Noise Cancelling intercoms were developed, and the noisy environment of a rally car was once again brought back under control. These special intercoms are the ONLY range that offers active Digital noise cancelling, something no other manufacturer have been able to produce.
Please note that Stilo rally intercoms can be used with other brands of helmets, and the range of conversion cables are listed in this guide. While they do connect to other brands, all of the Stilo intercoms are optimised to work with the electronics fitted in Stilo helmets, and the true benefits of the intercoms will only be realised when used with a Stilo helmet, or a helmet fitted with Stilo electronics.

Stilo Trophy 2
Overview: Designed for use in Group N and less noisy cars. The clubman range of Stilo’s Trophy electrics really does save money, but the electronic microphone has limited noise cancelling capabilities, which is why it best used in less noisy cars. Trophy electronics are required in your helmet for use with this intercom, so you will require a Trophy Rally helmet as a minimum.
This intercom will ONLY work with the Stilo Trophy Rally helmet

Stilo WRC 03
Overview: This was the original intercom that Stilo produced, which was fitted with the top of the range WRC analogue electronics with its excellent noise cancelling ability. Even today, this intercom is the most popular in our range for its price point and performance. This intercom connects to Stilo Trophy Plus, all WRC helmets, and also ST5 helmets fitted with the standard electronics. There is a Stilo conversion cable available for this intercom (AC0200) that allows connection for other brands of helmet, but for the best in noise cancelling the Stilo WRC electronics in a helmet will by far improve communications with this intercom.

Stilo WRC 9V
Overview: Born from the WRC 03, the WRC 9V has a number of improvements to take this analogue intercom to the next level of noise cancelling and additional options. Extra noise cancelling became a requirement, and the first intercom built by Stilo to combat this issue was this model. The extra noise filter switch, positioned between the volume controls, really did help improve communication, and this had excellent results in cars like a hi-revving Escort BDG. In addition, with the market being flooded with on-board cameras, the frequency of the WRC intercoms was too low to pick up the communication between the crews, so in back of this unit, there is booster switch increase to out sound levels.

The Digital Revolution
Why did Stilo go Digital?
With the analogue electronics in the WRC 9V, there was only so far Stilo could go to reduce the ever-increasing surround noise with the “Extra Filter”, before they started reducing the communication sound levels between the crews also, this completely defeated the object of the exercise. So, the only way to get to the next level and beyond was to make the intercom “Active Digital”.
With Digital the direct sound (from the co-driver) and surround sound from the car can be separated which is key point, as this is then converted into a digital format. Once digitised the relevant noise cancelling level chosen by the crew in the intercom unit, will be applied and then turned back into sound and put out into the driver’s side. All of this in just a mille-second in time, but delivering an incredible difference to the in-car communications.
This technology was quickly embraced by the WRC teams and the DG30 was the first unit to be produced. If you want the ultimate noise cancelling in motorsport, you need to use WRC Helmets and electronics and a Stilo Active Digital intercom.
Stilo DG10
Overview: Active Digital reads to be a fairly straight forward thing to produce, but the system took a lot of time to develop, with a lot of testing to come up with the optimum levels of noise cancelling to suit specific cars, as well as implement in it into a new totally functional intercom.
In the DG10 that has a single digital intercom circuit, in all there are four levels of noise cancelling, all programmable through the DIG button: Position 0 – Analogue Extra Filter (as per the WRC 9V), 1 – Low level Digital, 2 – Medium level Digital 3 – High level Digital noise cancelling. With these options, there is noise level setting to suit the requirements of any car and crew with the DG10 Rally intercom
In addition to Active Digital, a number of extra modules were added to make this intercom functional and user-friendly for the modern age of rallying. A Bluetooth connection was added to allow the connection of a mobile phone; calls can be received from a phone when answered off the intercoms control panel and transmitted through the intercom to helmets or headsets. A road and stage mode was added, the road mode allows a telephone call to be passed onto the crew, but stage mode disconnects all other connections to allow communication only between driver and co-driver.
There are two exterior connections possible, one for camera output when in stage mode. The other is for a radio input which is only available in road mode. The Stage mode also optimises the sounds levels for rallying at full speed. The ergonomic control panel allows easy adjustment of all buttons, allowing your finger to position in a slot over the chosen button and adjust levels accordingly. Individual noise levels between driver and co-driver can be chosen by number and once adjusted cannot be re-set with a specific press of a button.
With all these functions the intercom can only be run off the cars 12-volt power feed. This is, without doubt, the best clubman specification rally intercom on the market and is selling extremely well.

Stilo DG30
Overview: The Stilo DG30 is the definitive top of the range, professional intercom, and there is nothing else on the market comes close to it!
The DG30 is split into three parts, The main control panel, Intercom main unit with TWO intercom circuits, the wiring cables (power and helmet) The main intercom unit was designed to positioned as low down in the car for better weight distribution, but unlike any other intercom has two circuits built in to the one unit. The main intercom is the Active Digital circuit as in the DG10 with all the excellent noise cancelling benefits, and the second is an analogue extra filter circuit used as an emergency back-up. Unlike, having a spare intercom in your car, should for any reason your main intercom fail, you would normally have to unplug the helmet and re-plug into the new intercom – this all costing valuable time as you slow and manage this process, the DG30 has a much faster, easier and safer method, you simply flick the switch on the top of the intercom control panel and the job is done! No unplugging of helmets needed.
The main control is the same ergonomic base as the DG10, but has the addition of an “EQ” button enabling the driver to adjust the tone of voice from the co-driver. The “TEL” button is something used in the AB0600 unit that has a dedicated sim card slot built into the main unit and an external telephone aerial if you press the “TEL” button you can select a choice of three memorised numbers. There is also the AB0601 version that uses a Bluetooth connection and does not have this facility.
The cables are bought separately, this to allow a team with a few cars to wire them all and simply swap the one unit from car to car much easier.
No stone has been left unturned in this model, and its base design has won numerous World Rally Championships with Volkswagon and Ford.

YB0100 – 12 Volt adaptor for use with Trophy 2 and WRC 03 intercoms
