Lazer LED Lamps – lighting the way to victory for M-Sport on Wales Rally GB

Lazer Lights
The tricky night-time stages proved to be a decisive moment on this year’s Wales Rally GB, and the ultimate success of the M-Sport team had much to do with the secret weapon it didn’t exactly have up its sleeve, but on the bonnet of its Ford Fiesta WRCs – Lazer LED Lamps!

Leg 2’s final stages were particularly difficult, with Aberhirnant 2 (SS15, 8.64 miles) and Dyfnant 2 (SS16, 11.12 miles) going a long way in deciding who was going to win Britain’s round of the WRC. Exiting a pitch-black Dyfnant on Saturday night, a pitch-perfect Elfyn Evans/Dan Barritt had just set another fastest stage time, creating an unassailable 53.1 second lead.

There are several reasons why Elfyn was so fast in Dyfnant, and one is undoubtedly the performance advantage of his Lazer LED Lamps. M-Sport has been instrumental in the development of the Lazer Carbon range, which Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia, Ott Tänak/Martin Järveoja and others also used on WRGB. It’s a magnificently powerful and efficient lighting system, which weighs as little as 1.4kgs and can give usable light to over 1350 metres!

There is a huge range of Lazer LED Lamps now in stock at Nicky Grist Motorsports – and as we continue to develop our website, these lamps are even easier to find and purchase on-line and are available for next day delivery. There is everything to meet your need, from the incredibly versatile Lazer ST4 Evolution LED Lamp to the Lazer Carbon 20 LED Lamp, which is the ultimate motorsport lighting solution.

One of the most popular lights is the Lazer Carbon 6 LED Lamp, which has been developed with the help of the works M-Sport drivers. It’s just 30cm wide and with its ultra-strong low-drag carbon fibre housing it weighs just 440gs – yet the lighting performance is staggering, extending to over 750 metres, thanks to its ultra-reflective vacuum-metallised boost optics. The unique design of both the housing and internal electronics, which includes rear facing LEDs, provides greater light utilisation, reduced scatter and better vertical distribution of light beneficial during heavy braking and acceleration. Subtle variations in the optic system provide for either a 'Spot' or 'Drive' beam pattern, the later giving a wider 'hot spot'.

Winter is well and truly here and with only nine hours of daylight per day you’re going to need a good lighting system if you’re planning to contest any rallies or off-road events in the near future.
