Nicky Grist to give HANS/FHR device advice at the Welsh Hill Rally

Nicky Grist and his team will be at the Welsh Hill Rally on Friday 6 July to give free advice ahead of a change in regulations that will see all Hill Rally Championship competitors wearing HANS/FHR device from January 2019 onwards. Nicky Grist Motorsports will be based at the Dakar Rally style bivouac at Walter’s Arena in the Vale of Neath – where the three-day, 120 stage mile, cross country event will take place between 6-8 July. On the Friday, the Nicky Grist Motorsports team of experts will have a full range of products on display and available to try on – including the different types of Stand 21 HANS devices and the popular Simpson Hybrid (only FIA approved FHR alternative to the HANS device). They will also bring a range of helmets with HANS posts and give a full introduction to the equipment needed, how to make sure a HANS/FHR device is fitted correctly, how to make sure they remain comfortable and in place during competition and the safety benefits of wearing them. “We’ve been approached by many Hill Rally Championship competitors already, making enquiries and even buying HANS/FHR devices now ahead of the change of regulations, so they are fully familiar with them when the new regulations comes into force in January 2019,” said Nicky. “We’ll be in Walter’s Arena on the Friday, ahead of the start of the Welsh Hill Rally, to give our expert advice and explain everything to all competitors. HANS/FHR devices have become the norm in racing and rallying – they are essential and mandatory pieces of safety equipment that save lives and prevent serious injury. There are some very powerful machinery in hill rallying, it’s a spectacular sport to watch, so it was only a matter of time before HANS/FHR devices became compulsory, and we’re therefore delighted to go along and explain to competitors everything they need to know about them.” Anyone wishing to find out more about HANS/FHR devices are very welcome to contact Nicky Grist Motorsports before the event. Anyone wishing to purchase any products ahead of the Welsh Hill Rally and collect them on Friday 6 July are very welcome to do so – and Nicky Grist Motorsports will deliver them to Walter’s Arena free of charge.
