Stilo UK Factory Pilot Taylor Barnard has been selected to join the Rosberg Young Drivers Academy – a brand new motorsport talent academy set up by the 2016 Formula 1 World Champion, Nico Rosberg.
Taylor – who dominated the British Cadet Championship and LGM Series last season and won both the GP plate and O plate – races in the CIK-FIA World and European Championships, along with all the WSK events and the DKM Championship, this year.
The talented 13-year old OK Junior class driver, who wears a Stilo ST5 CMR helmet supplied by Nicky Grist Motorsports, had a strong opening round of the European Championship, finishing 8th in the Final after starting 17th.
“I am delighted to share some really exciting news with you all - I have been selected to work in a partnership deal under the guidance of 2016 Formula One World Champion Nico Rosberg,” said Taylor. “The agreement was put in place a couple of weeks ago and I am thrilled that I can now reveal this to you guys! I have to admit it was extremely difficult to keep it a secret, however the wait has been well worth it! It is a huge honour to have the opportunity to work with Nico. I must say a big thank you to everyone who has made this happen, not forgetting a massive thank you to Nico for putting me in line for this new chapter in my career!”
“I am absolutely delighted for Taylor and his family who support him to the hilt,” said Nicky Grist. “His performance since we have been involved has really been excellent, and I am delighted to be involved with such a talented young racer. I can understand why he has been chosen by Nico Rosberg and his team, as he will be one of our future stars in the UK.”
