Ogier aims for sixth WRGB win

Sébastien Ogier knows Wales Rally GB well, and at a crucial point in the battle for the FIA World Rally Championship, the 35-year old Frenchman will be aiming for nothing less than his sixth win on the event.

Co-driven by Julien Ingrassia, the Citroën Total WRT team driver arrives in Wales lying second in the WRC Drivers’ standings, 17 points behind leader Ott Tänak.

The team recently enjoyed a three-day pre-event test in Wales, focusing on improving the C3 WRC’s ability to adapt to the local conditions. So with Ogier having won last time out in Turkey, who’d bet against last year’s WRGB winner and six time world champion winning WRGB for a sixth time in seven years?

“The target at Wales GB will be to keep up the momentum from Turkey and continue to put as much pressure on Ott as possible,” says Ogier. “I’ve always done well as this rally. I’m determined to really go for it and have a say in the outcome, especially as the running order isn't an issue for those starting at the front. It’s all about reading the changes in grip and dealing with the conditions, which are often tricky, especially the low-grip sections. Although it took me a while to work out how to manage this unusual event, it’s now a rally that I really enjoy.”

Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia wear Stilo WRC DES Zero 8860 helmets.
