Petter breaks son’s hillclimb record

Petter Solberg has won the Norges Råeste Bakkeløp, breaking Norway’s most famous hillclimb record.

Driving a Volkswagen Polo R Supercar, Petter covered the 3.75km route in 1 minute 37.99 seconds, which was a whole six seconds faster than his son Oliver Solberg, who set the previous record last year.

The appearance formed part of Petter’s farewell tour, as the former WRC and World RX champion has said that he’ll retire from full time competition at the end of this year.

However, he is sure to go head to head with his son at private events like the hillclimb in the future.

“Oliver will have to wake up earlier if he wants to break this record again,” said Petter!

Petter wears a Stilo WRC Des Zero 8860 helmet, supplied by Nicky Grist Motorsports.
