Record 13 BTCC drivers race for top Stilo prize in Jack Sears Trophy

A record-breaking 13 drivers will complete for the top prize of a Stilo ST5 GT Carbon helmet supplied by Nicky Grist Motorsports, when they contest this year’s Jack Sears Trophy - a special category within the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

The biggest ever field has come about thanks to a rule change, which now allows drivers who have never scored an outright BTCC podium position to compete for the Jack Sears Trophy. Previously, the prestigious end-of-season award was presented to the top Rookie driver.

And that number of 13 eligible drivers could increase as the BTCC progresses, as teams are now permitted two driver changes per season (previously one).

The opening three BTCC races take place at Brands Hatch this Sunday (8 April) and the eligible Jack Sears Trophy drivers racing there will be:

Rory Butcher….MG6 (AmD with AutoAid/RCIB Insurance Racing) Tom Oliphant….Mercedes A-Class (Ciceley Motorsport) Bobby Thompson….Volkswagen CC (Team HARD with Trade Price Cars) Mike Bushell….Volkswagen CC (Trade Price Cars with Brisky Racing) Chris Smiley….Honda Civic Type R (BTC Norlin Racing) Sam Smelt….Audi S3 (AmD with Cobra Exhausts) Jake Hill….
