Wood wins at Pickup finale

Lea Wood won the penultimate round of the British Pickup Truck Racing Championship at Brands Hatch at the weekend.

The Herefordshire driver fought back from seventh to take victory in the #43 Ford machine, setting the fastest lap of the race along the way.

Rain then dramatically changed the track conditions for the final race of the year, and one small mid-race mistake saw Lea – the 2013 British Touring Car Jack Sears Champion – park his Pickup in the wet gravel at Clearways.

“Winning the first race of the day was certainly awesome, especially after dropping back to seventh in the early part of the race,” said Lea. “As always it was a great weekend of racing and catching up with so many people is always a real bonus.”

Lea wears a Stilo ST5 F 8860 helmet and bespoke P1 Advanced Racewear suit, both supplied by Nicky Grist Motorsports.
