WRGB set for epic three-way WRC title battle

With Ott Tänak scoring back-to-back wins in Finland and Germany, a titanic three-way FIA World Rally Championship battle for the drivers’ title is in prospect on the Dayinsure Wales Rally GB (4-7 October).

Thierry Neuville (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC) still leads the series by 23 points, ahead of second-placed Sébastien Ogier (Ford Fiesta WRC). But Tänak (Toyota Yaris WRC) is now just 13 points behind the five-time world champion and closing in on both Ogier and Neuville.

Neuville, Ogier and Tänak, co-driven by Nicolas Gilsoul, Julien Ingrassia and Martin Järveoja respectively – who all wear Stilo WRC DES Zero 8860 helmets – have each racked up three wins so far this season. With 120 points still on offer, all four remaining rounds – Turkey, GB, Spain and Australia – are going to prove pivotal in the destination of the coveted crown.

“With the title race reaching a crescendo, next month’s Dayinsure Wales Rally GB is going to be real cracker,” predicts WRGB boss Ben Taylor. “We’ve got the most fan-friendly route for years with so many great places to watch the action, and now there’s the added prospect of a stunning shoot-out for this year’s World Championship title. It’s a fantastic spectacle that no one will want to miss.”
