Publisher Porter Press’s foray into the world of rallying opens with a Sahara sand-driven flourish with the publication in June of Subaru Impreza WRC – the Autobiography of P8 WRC Colin McRae & Nicky Grist's Safari Rally-winning Subaru Impreza – which he steered to victory on the car’s debut and against the odds in 1997 – was the subject of a meticulous back-to-original restoration by Prodrive in 2022, chronicled within the book.
Authored by acclaimed motorsport journalist Ian Wagstaff, the 320-page Subaru Impreza WRC contains over 370 images, and is a must-read for all fans of rallying and indeed those of the late, great World Rally Champion, Colin McRae.
Honouring the rally Impreza and the prodigious talent of McRae, Wagstaff commented: ‘A lasting icon of the World Rally Championship has been the blue and yellow Subaru Impreza. The example that won the 1997 Safari Rally is arguably one of the most memorable, Colin McRae's performance at the wheel having shown a new-found maturity that would underline a claim to his being the greatest rally driver of the era.’
