Co-Driver - Rally Boots

Co driver boots differ from a driver race boot; firmer soles with more grip mean a co driver can get out of the car on a stage and change a tyre without suffering the effects of a thin sole. High ankle support also leads to a stable item of footwear and full FIA Homologation means they can be used at any level of the sport.

Do you sell both rally driver and co-driver racing boots?

Yes, we do; however, it's important to distinguish between the two. At Nicky Grist, we sell rally footwear that’s designed for the driver to wear, as well as separate rally shoes specially designed for a co-driver to wear. These items are all FIA-approved and supremely comfortable, made by top Italian brands such as P1 Racewear and Alpinestars.

Why should we purchase motorsport footwear from you?

Here at Nicky Grist, our team lives and breathes rally motorsport. We actually love all forms of motorsport; when not at work, we often spectate or actively participate in rally motorsport competitions across the United Kingdom.

Because of this, we have first-hand experience of using the products that we sell, and we particularly enjoy wearing P1 Racewears racing boots. Really comfortable, supports the ankle well, and is designed by expert motorsport clothing manufacturers. Therefore, we retail a high number of rally boots made by P1 Racewear, amazing quality offered at really unbelievable prices- plus we can deliver worldwide.

Do you stock FIA approved rally footwear?

We most certainly do; whether you're competing in Rally GB, the Circuit of Ireland Rally, or perhaps the world-famous Roger Albert Clark Rally- you're going to need high-quality rally clothing and we can supply you with absolutely everything you need.

Therefore, an essential piece of rally clothing is the footwear, often made from Nomex, which is designed to better protect your feet and offer greater heat resistance. We therefore stock several FIA-approved rally boots. Perhaps you are unsure which FIA homologation the rally boots must meet to enter your next rally?

Well, why not call the team on 01981 241 040? We will do our best to help you get everything you need before your next race.

What makes your rally footwear comfortable to wear?

It’s important to comply with all FIA safety regulations; however, as a driver or co-driver, you'll want to be comfortable during the race or when practising in the car. Therefore, the actual race suit, gloves, helmet, and shoes all need to work together to protect you and be as comfortable as possible.

This is another reason why P1 Racewears shoes are becoming more and more popular with rally drivers and co-drivers. They are Italian-made shoes are really comfortable thanks to the soft materials used in the shoes, plus the company's know-how in producing extremely well-made motorsport safety clothing is clear once you wear these rally boots.

Why can’t I wear any trainers when rallying?

When entering formal rally competitions, such as the Roger Albert Clark Rally or the Cambrian Rally, you can't enter without wearing the right safety clothing which all must be FIA approved.

This is only a good thing, as we all want to enjoy rallying as much as possible, but everyone must be protected by wearing the right safety clothing.

However, if you're whizzing around in your Subaru Impreza 555 or your Toyota Celica GT-Four ST205 on a private road, well, you might think, I will take it for a quick spin, I don’t need to wear all that safety gear, right? No! That is a massive mistake to make! Whether on a private test track or on the road, make sure you're wearing the same safety gear you would in an actual race. A flash fire or rollover can occur at any time, so do make sure you've got the right safety kit on; this includes shoes made of Nomex, for example.

Do you also sell bespoke racing suits?

Often, drivers want to choose a race helmet, bespoke rally suit and shoes that all match- we can help with that process. We can supply any rally safety clothing that you need. We can help you get ready for your next rally. Call the team on: 01981 241 040
