Chadwick’s next stepping stone to Formula 1

W Series champion Jamie Chadwick will race in the Formula Regional European Championship this year, driving for top Italian racing squad Prema Powerteam.

Prema is one of the leading international race teams in Europe and is regarded by many as the third Italian team – after Ferrari and Toro Rosso.

It has helped develop the careers of many top drivers, including Charles Leclerc, Lance Stroll, Pierre Gasly, Antonio Giovinazzi, Esteban Ocon, Robert Kubica, Felix Rosenqvist, Dindo Capello and Jaques Villeneuve.

As a driver can gain 25 super licence points – enough to take part in a Formula 1 practice session – in the Formula Regional European Championship, it’s a major stepping stone in the 22-year old Somerset driver’s ambitions to reach F1.

Furthermore, Chadwick has received “life changing” support from multi-millionaire David Dicker, who owns the New Zealand-based Rodin Cars operation, which develops a range of ground-breaking single-seater supercars.

And it’s nothing less than Chadwick – who wears a Stilo ST5 FN 8860 helmet supplied by Nicky Grist Motorsports – deserves, as her outstanding career record shows.

After taking her first steps on track in the Ginetta Junior Championship, Chadwick made a spectacular breakthrough by winning the 2015 British GT Championship in the GT4 class. She moved to the British Formula 3 Championship in 2017, making strides as she learned the ropes of open-wheel racing.

In 2019, Chadwick cruised to the MRF Challenge Formula 2000 title with six wins and went on to become the first-ever W Series champion with two more wins and five podium finishes out of six races.

Having achieved considerable success in the past, Chadwick is an extremely welcomed addition to the team that now looks forward to joining forces for a key step of her professional career.

PREMA also welcome on board Rodin Cars. The New Zealand manufacturer will support Chadwick in the coming endeavour as it continues to develop its range of ground-breaking single-seater supercars.

"I am absolutely elated to be teaming up with Prema Powerteam for the Formula Regional European Championship this year,” said Chadwick.

“With such an amazing calendar, what looks to be a very competitive grid, and of course the support of the Prema team, I really cannot wait to get back racing in August.

“I am incredibly grateful to Rodin Cars and David Dicker for this life changing opportunity, and their support in the next chapter of my racing career.

“I’m so excited to start this journey with them and I hope we can enjoy mutual success together."

“We are delighted to welcome Jamie to our Formula Regional European team for the upcoming season,” added Prema team principal Angelo Rosin.

“She achieved brilliant results in her career so far, and we are looking forward to seeing her step up to this challenging international championship. Coming from the W Series, she knows the machinery quite well and her experience will definitely be a valuable asset. We are absolutely committed and will give our 100 per cent to help her succeed."

The revised 2020 Formula Regional European Championship will start again on 2 August at Misano, before heading to Paul Ricard (23 August), Red Bull Ring (13 September), Mugello (4 October), Monza (18 October), Barcelona (1 November), Imola (22 November) and finally Vallelunga (6 December).
