Simpson makes WEC return

Mike Simpson, who wears a Stilo ST5 FN Zero helmet supplied by Nicky Grist Motorsports, will make his return to the FIA World Endurance Championship at the 4 Hours of Silverstone (1 September).

The Ginetta factory driver who has multiple wins in GT and LMP with Ginetta, and a 2018 Le Mans 24 Hours finish with Ginetta in LMP1, will drive the Team LNT AER-powered Ginetta G60-LT-P1.

He’ll share the #6 car with two-time American Le Mans Series Champion Chris Dyson and 2003 Le Mans 24 Hours winner/2011 American Le Mans Series Champion Guy Smith.

The 4 Hours of Silverstone is the opening round of the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship.

“It’s always an enormous honour to represent Ginetta, but to be asked to do so at this level is fantastic,” says Simpson.

“The LMP1 is simply amazing, and the testing and development we have done with the AER-powered Ginettas has proved that the car is capable of being in real contention.

“I’m looking forward to racing alongside Guy, who I have known for many years, and to seeing a lot more of Chris (Dyson) who I enjoyed working alongside in testing.”
